Knoxville resident, formerly of Oak Ridge, Michael Wayne Pearson, 68, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family Jan. 21 after a brief illness.
He spent 10 years in the U.S. Navy as an electronics technician first class and was honorably discharged in April 1977. He retired in 2011 from G.E. Medical where he worked as a field service engineer. He was a car and gun enthusiast. He especially enjoyed driving and working on his 1984 Mercury Carpi RS. He was a member of the Tennessee Valley Mustang Club and NRA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack W. and Dorothy McLin Pearson. He is survived by his wife, Theresa (Teri) Keen Smith-Pearson; sister, Patti Davenport of McMinnville; brother and sister-in-law, Allan and Gloria Pearson of Lebanon; numerous nieces, great-nieces and a great-nephew.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday at Baymont Inn & Suites, 209 Market Place Blvd., Knoxville, TN 37922 at noon. Family and friends are invited to share stories of how he impacted their lives. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse at P.O. Box 3000 Boone, N.C. 28607, or the American Red Cross at 2025 East Street, N.W. Washington, D.C. 20006.
