Michael Joe Wanamaker, 76, a McMinnville resident and Grundy County native, was born Oct. 30, 1942 and passed away April 14 at his residence following an extended illness.

He was a self-employed nurseryman and timberman, member of Philadelphia the Baptist Church of Christ, and son of the late Osborn Conard and Bessie Tate Wanamaker. Mr. Wanamaker was married Nov. 2, 1963 to Joyce Brady Wanamaker, who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by daughter-in-law Janice Wanamaker; son-in-law Dewy Harris; brothers Johnny Ned Wanamaker and Bradley Matthew Wanamaker; and sister Iris Nell Walker.

Mr. Wanamaker is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Michael Joe and Amy Wanamaker Jr. of McMinnville; daughters and son-in-law, Michael Janie and Chad Osment and Joyce Elaine Harris, all of McMinnville; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Ricky Simons of McMinnville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Maxine Wanamaker, Rickey and Flo Wanamaker, David and Ella Wanamaker and Billy Conard and Nelda Wanamaker, all of McMinnville; and brother-in-law, Herbert Walker of McMinnville.

Graveside service and interment will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at Philadelphia Cemetery with Jason Brown to officiate. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at High’s. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
