McMinnville resident and Grundy County native Markie J. (Troglen) Elrod, 80, died Sept. 11 at NHC in McMinnville.The daughter of the late Newell Troglen and Daisy Muncey Troglen, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Clyde Elrod; and sons James Clyde Elrod and Ronnie Earl Elrod.She is survived by daughter, Janie Elrod (Jackie Hicks) of McMinnville; sons and daughters-in-law, Danny Elrod and Peggy Martin, Ricky and Jenny Elrod, David and Melody Elrod and Andy Elrod, all of McMinnville; brother Issac Troglen of Morganton, Ala.; sister Joy Monroe of Morganton; sister-in-law Debie Elrod of McMinnville; brother-in-law Douglas Elrod of North Carolina; cousin Sue Anderson of Morrison; 11 grandsons, six granddaughters, eight great-grandsons, 12 great-granddaughters, two great-great-granddaughters, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and a host of friends.Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home with Danny Barnes officiating. Burial will follow at Wards Cove Cemetery in Rutherford County. Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. until time of service today at the funeral home.Gardens of Memory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
