Melvin L. Lazzara, 76, of McMinnville died Sunday, May 22 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville from an auto accident.He was born in St. Louis, Mo., on Feb. 16, 1935, the son of the late Carlo and Estella (Lambert) Lazzara. He was the widower of Nancy C. (Cooper) Lazzara of McMinnville.He worked as a truck driver and served in the U.S. Navy as a private in the Korean War. He is survived by five daughters, Carolyn S. and husband Bill Burch of McMinnville, Angelina L. and husband Richard Schlinez of Milburg, Mich., Fay Nelson of Benton Harbor, Mich., Ruth and husband Wayne Clark of Coloma, Mich., Lori and husband Billy Kent of Benton Harbor, Mich.; seven sons, Francisco C. and wife Beth Lazzara, Monte L. Lazzara of McMinnville, Mathew H. and wife Lisa Lazzara of McMinnville, Paul and wife Nattlie Bearden of Orlando, Fla., David and wife Denese Bearden of Athens, Vonnie Bearden of Franklin, Ky., and Jimmy Bearden of Benton Harbor, Mich.He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy C. Lazzara, parents, and two sons, Melvin Lazzara and Walter Allen Bearden.
