McMinnville resident and Cannon County native Mazel Lee Hughes, 83, died June 18 at Woodbury Nursing Center after an extended illness.A retired seamstress with OMC and a member of Pleasant View Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Shelah Ray and Amby Gerdellie Youngblood Thomas. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jim Alford Hughes; brothers, Shelah Ray Thomas; sisters, Lucille Prater, Nadine Smith and Agnes Nichols.She is survived by children and spouses, Scott and Linda Hughes, Roy and Tamara Hughes, all of McMinnville; grandchildren, Mitch Hughes, Lisa Myers and Kevin Lewis, Laura and Brandon Miller, Samantha Porter, Jessica Hughes and Jedidiah Hughes, all of McMinnville, Samantha and Dustin Mingle of Liberty, Alexandra and Matthew Hancock of Woodbury; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Arlis Thomas of Woodbury and Alan Thomas of Florence, Ms.; and sister, Thelma Hicks of Nashville.Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at High’s Chapel with Kevin Deason officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory.
