Mrs. Mary Nell Lentz Grissom, 85, of McMinnville died Friday, Dec. 21, at The Webb House in McMinnville. 

She was born May 6, 1933, in Smithville, was a retired educator with the Warren County School System, member of the Warren County, Tennessee Teacher’s, and National Education Associations, Alpha Delta Kappa, Rock Island Lion’s Club, lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and Christ United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by husband of 57 years Edwin Dyer Grissom, parents John M. and Ethel Bryant Lentz, sisters Wilma Lentz Stiles and Louise Lentz Wilson, and brother Joe B. Lentz.

Survivors include sons Phillip Dyer Grissom (Ruth) of Birmingham, Ala., and Jeffrey Martin Grissom (Kay) of Greeneville; brother Tom Lentz (Betty) of Denton, Texas, five granddaughters Kelsey Grissom (Lee Tibbetts), Lindsey and Macy Grissom and Samantha Grissom and Kelli Spradling (Caleb) and great-grandchildren, Houston Dyer Johnson, Keller Jacob Tibbetts, Morgan Joseph Tibbetts, Michael Neyland Foster, and Abigail Grace Foster; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many close friends.

Funeral service will be at 12 p.m. noon, Thursday, Dec. 27, at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Kelsey Grissom will officiate. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The Grissom family will receive friends Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
