Pittsburgh, Pa., native and Morrison resident Mary Melissa Rump Shields, 87, was born Feb. 7, 1926, and died Oct. 13 at NHC Health Center.She was the daughter of William Aloysius and Marie Cecelia O’Keefe Rump, and was married on April 30, 1947, to Everette Leon Shields, who preceded her in death on July 24, 1979. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents and by son, Michael Shields.She is survived by three children, daughter, Marie (Russell) Summers of Morrison, two sons, Kenneth (Shirley) Shields of Claremore, Okla., and James (Rosita) Shields of Lexington, Ky.; two sisters, Catherine (William) Bach of Hanoverton, Ohio, and Patricia (William) Blaine of Minerva, Ohio; and eight grandchildren, John (Machelle) Summers of Manchester, Melissa Summers of Phoenix, Ariz., Lorie (Neal) Wilson of Collinsville, Okla., MistiDawn (Tommy) Covey of Lexington, Ky., Matthew (Sarah) Shields of Lexington, Ky., Christie (Travis) Finerty of Hohenwald, Amber Shields of Claremore, Okla., and Whitney (Robert) Garabaldi of Morrison; and 20 great-grandchildren.She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ at Pleasant Knoll.Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. John Summers and Jerry Finney will officiate.
