Mary Margaret Dunlap Smith, 77

Rock Island resident and Warren County native Mary Margaret Dunlap Smith, 77, was born Sept. 3, 1937 and died Aug. 31 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro following a brief illness.
A homemaker and a member of Rock Island Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Euclid Miller and Lillie Sherrell Dunlap. She was married Dec. 6, 1952 to William Fred Smith, who preceded her in death on April 2, 2002. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Evelyn Sparkman, Virginia Murphy, Kathleen Freeman and Elaine Reeves.
She is survived by seven children, Don Smith of McMinnville, Yvonne Mahaffa and Darlene Powell, both of Morrison, Debra Davis of Bradyville, Freda Scott and Dawn Pedigo, both of Rock Island, and Jennie Smith of Woodbury; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Norman Dunlap of Pensacola, Fla., and George Dunlap of Walling; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in High’s Chapel with Michael Pelham, Mike Steakley and Will Daniel officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at High’s. Memorial donations may be made to Pine Bluff Cemetery Fund.
