Mary Lois Gilley, 89, of Clinton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, at her home.

She was born Nov. 8, 1929 in McMinnville, the daughter of Joseph Samuel Green and Flaura White Green.

In earlier years, Mrs. Gilley worked for many years at Loveman’s and Miller’s Department Stores as a sales associate. She was a member of Clinton Church of Christ.  She enjoyed sewing and crafts of all kinds.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Dot Dillon, Naomi Hanford, Sammie Ward, and Helen Glenn, as well as an infant brother and sister. She was also preceded in death Aug. 25, 1995 by her husband, Ivan Dale Gilley, whom she married Nov. 21, 1948 in McMinnville.

She is survived by daughters, Marsha Gilley Jacobs and husband Mike of McMinnville, and April Nygard and husband Marty of Oak Ridge; brother-in-law, Herb Ward of Nashville, and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family will meet Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in McMinnville for a graveside service. The family asks any memorials be made to a charity of the donor’s choice in her memory. An online guest book can be signed at www.weatherfordmortuary.com.
