Mary Leona Holmes, 72, of Smyrna died Wednesday, Jan. 29, at StoneCrest Medical Center.
Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her parents, Henderson and Roberta Collins; sister Elizabeth Goad; and brothers Albert and Marvin Collins.
Mrs. Holmes is survived by her husband of almost 52 years David Holmes; sons David Holmes Jr. and Robert Holmes, both of Smyrna, Scott Holmes and his wife DeDe of McMinnville; sister Jean Davis and her husband Jerry of Smyrna; and three grandchildren Dustin Holmes, Garrison Holmes and Emma Holmes.
Mrs. Holmes was a longtime member of Smyrna Church of Christ. Always known as “Ms. Leona,” she loved working with children as a teacher at Smyrna Christian School for over 40 years. She will always be remembered, loved, cherished, and missed.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna and then again Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral services beginning at 10 a.m. at Smyrna Church of Christ with Bro. Bill Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. An online guestbook is available at
