Mary Leona Holmes, 72, of Smyrna died Wednesday, Jan. 29, at StoneCrest Medical Center. Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her parents, Henderson and Roberta Collins; sister Elizabeth Goad; and brothers Albert and Marvin Collins.Mrs. Holmes is survived by her husband of almost 52 years David Holmes; sons David Holmes Jr. and Robert Holmes, both of Smyrna, Scott Holmes and his wife DeDe of McMinnville; sister Jean Davis and her husband Jerry of Smyrna; and three grandchildren Dustin Holmes, Garrison Holmes and Emma Holmes.Mrs. Holmes was a longtime member of Smyrna Church of Christ. Always known as “Ms. Leona,” she loved working with children as a teacher at Smyrna Christian School for over 40 years.
