Spencer resident Mary Leola Hopkins, 94, died Jan. 26 at her home.An Overton County native, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Herman and Willie Mae Rogers Herman and was preceded in death by her husband, Gus Hopkins; stepmother, Laura Herman; daughter, Lida Jean Hopkins; sisters, Louise Vaughn and Bessie Shockley; brothers, Clifford Herman, Herbert Herman and Elmo Herman; stepbrothers, Hansford Buckner, Leonard Buckner and Junior Buckner.She is survived by children, Willie Lee Hopkins and wife Bernice, Jessie Ray Hopkins and wife, Ruth; Shirley Neal and husband Morris, Faye Davis and husband John, Laura Wade and husband Willie; Mary Lou Prater and husband Randall; Johnny Hopkins and wife Glenda Gail; Bonnie Rigsby and husband Don; Girlene Hopkins, Jerry Hopkins and wife, Sue; and Gary Hopkins; 30 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, 39 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lulu Ray Herman; several nieces, nephews and friends.Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Spencer Funeral Home with John Davis, Don Rigsby and Wayne Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow at Shockley Cemetery.
