Mary Katherine Lawhenore Cox died Sept. 11.

McMinnville resident and Bridgeport, Ala., native Mary Katherine Lawhenore Cox, 90, was born July 25, 1926 and died Sept. 11 at Riverview Terrace following a brief illness.
A retired teacher’s assistant with the Warren County School System and member of First United Methodist Church, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Myrtle Smith Lawhenore. She was married Jan. 10, 1947 to John H. Cox, who preceded her in death on Nov. 16, 2010. In addition to her parents and husband of 63 years, she was preceded in death by brother, Raymond Lawhenore; and sister, Frances Elizabeth “Missie” Garner.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Latisha Cox of McMinnville; two grandchildren, Lindsey and Savannah Cox, both of McMinnville; and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service and interment will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. View Cemetery with Tommy Vann and Bobby Cox officiating. Family and friends are to meet 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests donations be made to Books from Birth Foundation in Warren County or any Warren County School System Library to purchase books for children.
