Hazlehurst, MS resident and Warren County native Marcus Dewitt “Buddy” Meadows Jr., 97, was born July 12, 1918 and died Feb. 14 at Pine Crest Guest Home in Hazlehurst following an extended illness.The former owner of The Cloth Shop, a United States Air Force veteran and member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Marcus Dewitt and Estella May Shoffner Meadows Sr. He was married to Betty Hooverene Brixey, who preceded him in death. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Fraley.Mr. Meadows is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Bettye Meadows of Crystal Springs, MS and David and Cathy Meadows of Asheville, N.C.; niece, Marsha Brock of Hattiesburg, MS; five grandchildren, Cameron (Trisha) Meadows, Andy (Haley) Meadows, John (Terri) Meadows, Deborah Meadows and Tommy Meadows; eight great-grandchildren, Jessica Pyle, Brent Pyle, Colton Meadows, Lauryn (Ben) Berch, Hunter (Misty) Gann, Brenna Meadows, Aubrey Meadows and Owen Meadows and great-great-granddaughter, Maddie Gann. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at High’s Chapel with Ben Bailey officiating.
