McMinnville resident and DeKalb County native Mabel Louise Stokes Guerard, 96, was born April 29, 1917 and died May 26 at her residence following an extended illness.A retired housekeeper and a member of New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Jennie Stokes. She was married Aug. 26, 1941 to Augustus Lewis Guerard, who preceded her in death 1987. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Vera Guerard; stepdaughter, Marva Edna Farmer; and two sisters, Lillie Jim Peters and Annie Mae Ramsey; and brother, Verlon Stokes.She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Robert and Jennifer Guerard of Nashville and Victor Guerard of McMinnville; one stepson, Augustus Guerard and wife Linda of New Jersey; stepdaughter, Helen Brown of Antioch; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.Funeral service was held Thursday, May 30 in High’s Chapel with Douglas Martin officiating.
