Lloyd Denton Locke, 77, a Rock Island resident and Warren County native, died June 1 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital following a sudden illness.
He was a retired employee of Powermatic, a U.S. Air Force veteran, member of the Church of Christ at Rock Island and son of the late Virgil Denton and Hattie Wretha Cantrell Locke.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Viva Moore; brothers, Wayne and Bob Locke; sister-in-law, Judy Locke; nephew, Kenneth Shirley and great-nephew, Nick Locke.
Mr. Locke was married March 1, 1963 to Norma Gail Moore Locke, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children and spouses, Darla and Nolan Campbell of Bone Cave, Becky and Heath Collins of the Midway community, and Jeff Locke and Sherry Mason of Walling; four grandchildren, Micah Collins and fiancee’ Mary Sue Taylor, Sarah Collins and boyfriend Ricky Owens and Holly Campbell and Lori Campbell; great-granddaughter, Aylen Collins; brother, James (Nancy) Locke of McMinnville; sisters, Laura Faye Shirley and Eva (Earl) Rigsby of Rock Island and Mary Jo (Jimmy) Smith of Manchester; sister-in-law, Edna Locke Hooper of Smithville; brothers-in-law, “Wiggie” (Lynette) Moore and Barry (Debra) Moore of Rock Island, Bobby (June) Moore of the Bethany community and Larry (Kathy) Moore of McMinnville. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at High’s Chapel with Mike Steakley and Bobby Moore officiating. Interment will follow at McElroy Cemetery in Van Buren County. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m., and Thursday at 9 a.m. until time of service at High’s.
