Smithville resident and Warren County native Linda Lee Scott George, 69, was born Oct. 10, 1945 and died June 24 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville following an extended illness.
A homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Gertrude Akins Scott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Barbara Carr; and two brothers, Robert and Charles Scott.
She was married May 4, 1963 to Luther Jay George Jr. of McMinnville. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Luther Jay George III and Vickie of Beech Grove, and Marty George and Angela of the Green Hill community; brother Douglas Scott of McMinnville; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Pearl Argo of Ohio, Elizabeth Pitmon and Billy of McMinnville; Alice Underwood and John of Georgia, and Debbie Boyd and David of McMinnville; four grandchildren, Ashley Rains, Luther Jay George IV, Christopher George, and Gracie George; and five great-grandchildren, Brookelyn George, Autumn Newby, Dalton George, Dodge George, and McKenna George.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in High’s Chapel with Pokie George officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, from noon until 9 p.m. Saturday, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Sunday at High’s.
