Lilly May Mathis, 71, a McMinnville resident and Grundy County native, was born Feb. 28, 1948 and passed away April 21 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center following an extended illness.
She was a homemaker, member of the Church of Christ, and daughter of the late Lem and Virgie Sanders Blaylock. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Smith and Robbie Rains; and three brothers, Tommy Sweeton, Elmer Sweeton and Elzie Sweeton.
Ms. Mathis is survived by two children, Tim Mathis and Amanda Casteel, both of McMinnville; two grandchildren, Taylor Lowry and Jose Israel Casteel; one great-grandchild, Evelyn Cates; brother, James Blaylock of McMinnville; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service and interment will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at Wesley Chapel Cemetery with Carl Crowe and Brandon Adcock to officiate. Visitation will be 12 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at High’s. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
