Levert Mayne Melton, 97, died Sunday Sept. 8 at Stones River Hospital.
He was a native of Cannon County and a son of the Silas and Bertha Taylor Melton. He was also preceded in death by his wife Nona Mai Melton.
He is survived by his four children, Darris Clinton (Shirley) Melton of Woodbury, Dorthy Jo Lawson of McMinnville, Carolyn Sue (Randy) Hopkins of Houston, Texas, and Nell D. (Randy) Bell of Manchester; grandchildren, Sherry Thomas, Angela Lawson, Tina Basham, Mark Hopkins, John Hopkins, Stephen Black and Kimberly Black; 11 great-grand and two great-great grandchildren.
He was a member of Short Mountain Church of God, a farmer and was retired from Powermatic in McMinnville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Charlie Stanton officiating. Burial will follow at Gunter Grizzle Cemetery.
