Rock Island resident and Grundy County native Leland Glenn Hobbs, 70, died April 15 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville after a lingering illness.A retired die caster and a member of Friendship the Baptist Church, he served his country in the U.S. Army.The son of the late Frank and Vivian Smartt Hobbs, he was preceded in death by brothers, Leslie, Earl and Harley Hobbs.He is survived by his wife, Faye Jones Hobbs; son and wife, David and Julie Hobbs of Rock Island; daughter, Lynette Hobbs Janca of Rock Island; stepchildren and their spouses, Richard and Windy Redmon of Conyers, Ga., Michael and Tina Bain of Rock Island; grandchildren, Ashley Nichole Hobbs, Leland Hobbs, Michael David Janca, Mary Rose Janca, all of Rock Island; step-grandchildren, Katelyn Scrader, Chloe and Logan Redmon of Conyers; step-great-grandchild, Opie Newby of Rock Island; Frank Lee Hobbs of Altamont; sister, Willie Mae Carr of Altamont; special friend, Michael Janca of Nashville; several nieces, nephews and cousins.Services will be held at noon Monday at High’s Chapel with Jason Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Hebron Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. today, and 9 a.m. until time of service Monday at High’s.High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.Southern Standard (McMinnville, Tenn.) April 17, 2011
