Larry David Ashley Sr., 63, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother died at his home surrounded by his family on April 29.
He was born June 28, 1947 in Abingdon, Va., and was the son of Dorothy Ashley and the late David Ashley. He was the owner of C&L Decor and also worked at VDOT. He was a United States Air Force veteran and a member of Beaverview Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years Carol Ashley, son L.D. Ashley and wife Windy of Bristol, Va., daughters Cindy Smith and husband Thomas of McMinnville, and Melissa Carmody and husband Mike of Trenton, Ohio, seven grandchildren Samantha and Calen Ashley, Allison and Paxton Smith, and Courtney, Ashley, and Michaela Carmody, brothers Bobby Ashley and wife Carolyn, Denny Ashley and wife Faye, Garry Ashley and wife Debbie, Terry Ashley and wife Donna, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Burrow and Rev. Michael Carmody officiating. Committal services will be at 1:30 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Chilhowie, Va. Military honors will be presented by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard. The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. at Weaver Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Relay for Life. Online condolences may be made at www.weaverfuneralhome.net.
