McMinnville resident and Warren County native, Johnny Clarence "J.C." Womack, 95, was born April 8, 1927 and died Jan. 9, 2023 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville following a brief illness.
A WWII veteran of the United States Army, retired employee from General Motors and a member of Highland Church of Christ, he was the son of the late John and Bessie Blankenship Womack. He was married to Dorothy Jean Carter Womack on Aug. 30, 1947 who preceded him in death on Feb. 1, 2012. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, James Womack and Herbert Womack; sisters, Elizabeth, Beatrice, Cornelius, Alma and Paulett; and step-sister, Carolyn Turner.
Mr. Womack is survived by son, Gary T. (Wanda) Womack of Sparta; daughter, Gail (Ralph) Smith of Ind.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; step-brothers, Kenneth (Violet) Mason and Billy Mason, both of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews and Highland Church of Christ family.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14 in High’s Chapel with Rickey Burks and Eddie Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Warren County. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of service at High Funeral Home.
Full military honors will be administered by American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
