Mr. John Horry “Jack” Cantrell Jr., 78, of McMinnville, died Monday, Feb. 14, at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro.
He was born on Oct. 2, 1942 in McMinnville, was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was of the Christian faith. He spent his life as a dairy and beef farmer and was affectionately known by his family as “Mr. Fix It.” Mr. Cantrell was preceded in death by his parents John Horry Sr. and Martha Frost Earthman Cantrell.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years Linda L. Cantrell, daughters Amelia (Chad) Vance of Lebanon, and Emily (Chris) Hennessee of McMinnville, sister Ellen Cantrell Cogley, brother Andrew Webber (Patty) Cantrell, grandchildren Jackson Vance, Benjamin (Madalyn) Vance, Luke Vance, Bracton Womack, and Kansas (Cristian) Contreras, along with his nieces and other extended family members.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at McMinnville Funeral Home. A family graveside service and interment is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18 at Mt. View Cemetery. Pastor Sommer Worley will officiate. Military grave rites will be conducted by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
