John Comar “J.C.” Mason Jr., 88, of McMinnville died Friday, Feb. 8 at Stones River Hospital in Woodbury. He was born Nov. 28, 1924 in Warren County and was retired from the U.S. Navy as Chief Boatswain’s Mate, Great Lakes Steel, cattle farmer, heavy equipment operator, owned houses and apartments, limed fields, custom farmed, was a truck driver, served in World War II and the Korean Conflict and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 5064. Mr. Mason was preceded in death by parents Comer and Carmon Parker Mason, his children Thomas, David, and Mikki, half-brother Hobert Vandigriff, sister Josephine Hentz, and brother Roy Mason.Survivors include his wife, Rochell Mason; grandchildren, Melissa Rose and Derek; great-grandchild, Mackayla, and sisters Carolyn Hobbs and Kathryn (James) Phifer.
