John Charles Cantrell died Wednesday, August 9 at Tri-Star Centennial Medical Center.

John Charles Cantrell, 77, of Smithville, died Wednesday, Aug. 9 at Tri-Star Centennial Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 9, 1940 in Warren County, was retired from self-employment as a drywall finisher, and was a member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ. Mr. Cantrell was preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Lulu Hill Cantrell, daughter, Jonna Cantrell, granddaughter, Amanda Kirby, and sisters, Oralee Cantrell, Linda Glenn, Pearline Newby, and Wilma Holmes.
Survivors include his wife, Ernesteen Cantrell of Smithville, daughter, Kim (Duane) Boehm of Murfreesboro, son, David Cantrell of Smithville, sisters, Thelma Sullens, Evelyn Travis, and Helen Burnett all of McMinnville, brother, James (Brenda) Cantrell of McMinnville, grandchildren, Jessica (Ricardo) Perez, Josh Kirby, and Kayla (Morgan) Ousley, and great grandchildren, Jonathan Perez, Jordan Perez, Arianna Perez, Atticus Ousley, Elam Ousley, Luna Kirby, and Sophia Kirby. Many nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12 in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Eugene Adkins will officiate. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, and again from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at
