McMinnville resident and DeKalb County native Joe Lemuel Harris, 74, was born Feb. 27, 1943 and died Oct. 1 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville following a sudden illness.Retired from Magnetek, a salesman for Great Western Bag Company, a Tennessee Army National Guard veteran and a member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Clarence Lemuel and Reba Jo Vaughn Harris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Edward “Bill” Harris and Kenneth Wayne Harris.He was married on June 27, 1964 to Brenda Graham Harris of McMinnville. In addition to his wife of 53 years, he is survived by son, Jeff Harris of McMinnville; daughter Misti Hillis of McMinnville; granddaughter, Kaylee Jade Hillis King and husband Rickie of McMinnville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy Thomas and Pat Harris of McMinnville and James Floyd and Wanda Harris of McMinnville; several nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors; and special friends, Waymon Hale and Glen Hale both of McMinnville.A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, Oct. 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. in High’s Parlor.
Joe Lemuel Harris, 74
