Joe Edward Hobbs, 79, of McMinnville died Sunday, Aug. 2 at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville.He was born Saturday, March 14, 1936 in Altamont and was the son of the late Dock Hobbs and Lucy Myers Hobbs. He was survived by his wife Frances Passons Hobbs of McMinnville; son James Hobbs of Chattanooga; three daughters, Tonya Hobbs of Murfreesboro, Tammy Hobbs Woodard and husband Jimmy of Murfreesboro, Jennifer Hobbs O’Bannon and husband Mark of Murfreesboro; brother, Bobby Hobbs and wife Katherine of Altamont; brother-in-law, Jimmy Passons and wife Colene of McMinnville; aunt, Tenia Northcutt of McMinnville; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Jonah Hobbs, and two sisters Gladys Hampton and Gertrude Thomas.Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home with Lyon Walkup and Johnie Hobbs officiating. Interment will be at Old Union Cemetery in Sparta.
