Joan Smith McGregor, 100

Former McMinnville resident, Joan Smith McGregor, 100, died Wednesday, April 16, in Knoxville following a brief illness.
Mrs. McGregor was born Aug. 20, 1913, in Freeport, Ill. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, a member of First Presbyterian Church in McMinnville, and enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, and being with her family.
She was the daughter of the late Leonard and Johanna Smith and was married to Jonah McGregor, who preceded her in death in 1985. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret McCumber and Mildred Bussell; and five brothers, Ray, Steve, Leonard, Ken and Louis Smith.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Denise McGregor; four grandchildren, Michelle McGregor, Bo McGregor and wife Constance, Brett McGregor, Allison Graham and husband Rob, and great-granddaughter Kenzi, all of the Knoxville area; sister, Jean Jennings of Murfreesboro, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Harry Green will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. The McGregor family will receive friends Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at
