Jesse Lee Cates of Lynchburg, Tennessee, passed from this life very unexpectedly on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the age of 34 years. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 11:00 Am at Lynchburg Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Powers officiating. Burial will follow in Raysville Baptist Church Cemetery in Lynchburg. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Lynchburg Funeral Home to assist with the funeral expense. A native of Lynchburg, he was the son of Donnie Cates Jr of Wartrace, Tennessee and Charsie Baker Hensley of Lynchburg, Tennessee. He was a high school graduate and worked for Deep South Redesign. He was engaged to Hanna Nunley of Lynchburg, and she survives him. Jesse was preceded in death by his dad, Michael Hensley, grandfathers, Willie Luna and Donnie Cates Sr., brother-in-law, Chris Mason, and one uncle, David Roberts.
Along with his parents and his fiancé, he is survived by his step-mother, Bridget (Willie ) King of McMinnville, step-father, Chris Gross, two sons, Brentley Michael Cates and Briar Lee Cates both of Manchester, daughter, Harmony Tipton of Lynchburg, brothers, Cody Cates of Sparta, Christopher Gross of McMinnville, James (Cheyenne) Cates of McMinnville, Chris (Victoria) Burris of Corpus Christi, Texas, sisters, Shawna (Cody) Vaughn of McMinnville, Mary Cates of McMinnville, Michaela Mason of McMinnville, Kristin (Aubrey) Green of McMinnville, grandmothers, Patricia Luna of Lynchburg , Mary Cates of Wartrace, Aunts, Shannon Roberts, and Angie Vincent, uncles, Chuck Baker and Shannon Cates, nieces, Aribella, Jaelyn, Hannah, Eva, Hadlee, Alena and Paizleigh, nephews, Gunnar, Adrian, Braylin, Anden, Eastlan, Ridge, Jackson, Bentley, and soon to be baby Lex. Jesse is also survived by a host of Cousins and friends.
