Jearld Hillis, 78, a Warren County resident and Van Buren County native, was born Feb. 12, 1941 and passed away April 3 at Erlanger Hospital following an extended illness.

He was a self-employed horse farmer and son of the late B.B. and Anna Lou Stennet Hillis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son Kenneth Lynn Hillis; brother J.D. Hillis; and former wife Zora Lee Grissom Hillis.

Mr. Hillis is survived by loving caregiver for 27 years Judy Groves; sons and daughter-in-law Dewayne and Sue Hillis of Sparta, and Jearld Hillis Jr. of McMinnville, six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters and brother-in-law, Shirley Minton of Dunlap, Dianna Grissom of Rock Island, and Carol Ann and Ronnie Martin of Rocky River, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside service and interment will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Shockley Cemetery with Josh Seals to officiate. Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at High’s. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
