McMinnville resident and Warren County native J.B. “Cobb” Roberts, 83, died June 17 at Saint Thomas West Hospital after an extended illness.
A nurseryman and a member of Smyrna Church of Christ, he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was the son of the late Ben and Lela Coppinger Roberts and was preceded in death by great-granddaughter, Mylie Cantrell and sister, Lena Mai Panter.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta Wanamaker Roberts; special children, Bo (Frances) Jennings and Melissa Jennings of McMinnville; three grandchildren, Denessa (B.J.) Rutledge, Talesha Jennings and Chattum Jennings, all of McMinnville; great-grandchildren, Jadelynn, Drystan and Draedyn Cantrell; special nephew, Terry Panter of McMinnville and longtime friend, Paul Jones of McMinnville.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at High’s Chapel with Jonathan Stubblefield and Ronnie Powell officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery-Walker Annex. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, and 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at High’s.
High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
