McMinnville resident and Cannon County native Javan Morris, 93, was born Aug. 16, 1920 and died Aug. 20 at NHC Healthcare in McMinnville following an extended illness.Retired from the Sheraton Corporation as a caterer, a United States Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late John and Mary Besheres Morris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Phillip Morris and three sisters, Myrtle Sadler, Ruby Hale and Rebecca Malone. He is survived by several nieces and nephews and special friend, Barbara Pearsall of Rock Island.A graveside service and interment was held Wednesday, Aug. 21 at Smyrna Cemetery with Larry Dennis officiating.High Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.Southern Standard (McMinnville, Tenn.)
