Janie Lois Barnes, 73, a McMinnville resident and White County native, was born Oct. 17, 1947 and died May 28 at St. Thomas West following an extended illness.

She was a private caregiver, and the daughter of the late James Franklin and Lula Fuqua Rollins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death husband, James Edward “Barney” Barnes, son George Christopher Holland, and brother Jim Rollins.

Mrs. Barnes is survived by children and spouses, Jamie and Heath Griffith of McMinnville, Tammy and Bob Ried of Florida, Jackie Holland Hawkins of McMinnville, Emily and Brian West of Murfreesboro, and Bud Holland of McMinnville, 15 grandchildren, Alicia Hale, Nick Ried, Matt (Lacie) Ried, Ashley (Micah) Black, Kristi (Kyle) Comfort, Christopher Thompson, Jack Holland, Christopher Holland, McKenley Holland, Jaelyn Holland, Holly Cherry, and Josh Thompson, 15 great-grandchildren, three sisters Juanita Jones of Nashville, Mary Cantrell of McMinnville, and Kathy (Jerry) Hudson of McMinnville, sister-in-law Mary Ellen Rollins, and life-long friend, Jack Holland. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, at High’s Chapel with Steve Hillis and Don Griffith officiating. Burial followed at New Bon Air Cemetery in White County. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
