James Rodney Coleman, 83

McMinnville resident and Davidson County native, James Rodney Coleman, 83, was born April 20, 1939 and died Dec. 4, 2022 at his residence following an extended illness.           

He was a United States Army veteran, a retired employee of A.O. Smith, a retired carpenter, a nurseryman and a woodworker. He was the son of the late Marvin and Sally Minton Coleman.  He was married to Janice Coleman of McMinnville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings and step-son, Jeremy Paris.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Coleman is survived by son, Terry (Tammy) Coleman of Smyrna; step-daughter, Jennifer Paris of Murfreesboro; grandson, Zachary Coleman; step-grandson, Justin Wilson; nieces, Penny, Debra, Linda, and Sandra; and very special friends, Tamara Puller, Tristan Myers, Izzy Puller and Carley Wilson.

Per Mr. Coleman’s wishes, he will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
