James Reece Looney, 86, died Sunday at NHC of Smithville. The superintendent of East Tennessee Bridge Builders and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was on the USS Solomons Aircraft Carrier CVE67. A Seaman First Class, he was also a member of the Johnson Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
