James Gresham Fleenor, 80

James Gresham Fleenor, 80, of McMinnville died Thursday, May 1.
A native of Jonesboro, he was the son of the late Earnest Porter and Mabel E. Gresham Fleenor. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Joe Fleenor and sisters, Elizabeth Fleenor and Sarah Stayer.
Mr. Fleenor is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty L. Hicks Fleenor; daughter, Kellie Hutchins and her husband Todd of McMinnville; son, James Timothy Fleenor of McMinnville; brother, LeRoy Fleenor and his wife Judy of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Lillie and Ella Hutchins of McMinnville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Fleenor was of the Methodist faith. He was a 1953 graduate of Jonesboro High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from East TN State College and his master’s degree from the University of Tennessee. Mr. Fleenor served in the United States Navy as an intelligence specialist and retired as a commander. He was a retired human resource officer with the Tennessee Valley Authority. Mr. Fleenor loved to research genealogy and loved all sports, especially anything relating to the University of Tennessee.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Woodfin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
