James Gilbert Keith, 88, passed away at Willow Branch Health and Rehabilitation Center on Friday, March 18. Keith was born in Putnam County on Oct. 24, 1933, to Jones and Flossie Fields Keith.
Keith was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army from 1956-58. He was a longtime McMinnville resident. He worked in the trucking industry for over 39 years, retiring as Terminal Manager of Venture Express in 1999.
In addition to his parents, Keith was preceded in death by wife Peggy Fuson Keith, brother Robert Keith, and sister Cloise Poe.
Survivors include son Tony Keith of Murfreesboro, daughter Tara (Michael) Myers of McMinnville, grandchildren Jennifer Stewart of McMinnville, Brittany Myers of Jackson, Maggie Keith of Murfreesboro, Gavin Myers of McMinnville, great-grandchilren Bethany George of McMinnville, Hunter Fults of McMinnville, Marissa (Coby) Mason of McMinnville, one great-great grandchild, sisters Jo Davis of Sparta, Glenda Watts of Sparta, Betty Elrod of Baxter. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be Monday March 21, at 12 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home. Officiating will be Bro. Doug Benningfield. Visitation will be Sunday, March 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home. Sign the online guestbook at thurmanfuneral.com.
