McMinnville resident and Derosset native Irene Harris Tate, 87, died Sept. 9 at River Park Hospital after an extended illness.A member of First United Methodist Church of McMinnville, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Rebecca J. (Seegraves) Harris; and was preceded in death by her husband, Richard M. Tate, with whom she owned and operated Tate & Dykes Nursery in Grundy County for 25 years. She was also preceded in death by brother Jim Harris; sisters Lorene Harris, Chris (Harris) Taylor; and grandson, Jess Waters.She is survived by daughters Jan M. Shinpaugh of McMinnville, and Judy W. and husband, Robert Dougerty of Palatka, Fla.; brothers, Muriel L. and wife Elsie Harris of Morrison, and Earl Harris of Cookeville; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Rev. Louis Johnson officiating.
