Mr. Hugh Perry Mathis, 78, of McMinnville, died Thursday, Feb. 22, at Saint Thomas West Hospital. Born June 16, 1939, in Warren County, he was self-employed in the drywall business, a member of Ivy Bluff Church of Christ where he had served as an elder for many years, a volunteer fireman for Centertown Fire Department for 41 years serving as chief for 25 years, a leader in the Boys Scouts organization when his sons were younger, and an active member of Centertown community events. Mr. Mathis was preceded in death by parents Ellis and Lela Jennings Mathis, brother Morris B. Mathis, and grandson Kendal Shane Wooten.
