Howard Lowell Markum, 94

Howard Lowell Markum, 94, a McMinnville resident and Cannon County native, was born June 14, 1924 and passed away Sept. 23 at Raintree Manor following an extended illness.

He was a World War II veteran of the United States Marine Corps, retired salesman with Borden Foods and member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Mrs. Tucker.

Mr. Markum was married Dec. 12, 2000 to Bonita Boyd Markum, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son George Christopher Abadie of San Diego, Calif.; sister-in-law Winona Powers of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews; and best friend Nell Williamson of Nashville.

Graveside service and interment was Thursday, Sept. 27, at Spring Hill Cemetery in Madison with Hugh Hillis officiating. Military grave rites were conducted by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard. There will be no service or visitation at High’s. Online condolences may be made at
