Howard Davis McCormick, 78, a McMinnville resident and Grundy County native was born Oct. 4, 1938 and died Dec. 19 in Erlanger Medical Center following a sudden illness.He was a self-employed nurseryman, member of the Baptist Church and son of the late James and Minnie Lee Sanders McCormick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Sarah Jane Way McCormick; granddaughter, Tansey Kay Talbert; brothers, Raymond and Bud McCormick; and sisters, Lillie Mae Pack, Velma Pack and Jessie Turner.Mr. McCormick is survived by children and spouses, Joyce and Kenneth King and Johnny McCormick, all of Rock Island, Pansey and David Kilgore, Dana and Steve Mullins and Marilyn and Gary Myers, all of McMinnville; seven step-children; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Dale Rogers of Detroit, Mich., Lorene Newby and Mildred Warren both of McMinnville; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday at High’s Chapel with Anthony Campbell to officiate. Interment will follow at Shellsford Cemetery.
