Gordon Lee Cantrell, 84, a McMinnville resident and DeKalb County native, was born June 5, 1933 and died March 30, at Saint Thomas River Park Hospital following a sudden illness.

He was a retired security guard with Nissan, member of Mt. Leo Church of Christ, and son of the late Zollie and Shirley Love Cantrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Harold, Norman, Reed and Royce Cantrell; sisters, Josie Love, Elizabeth Lafever and Ruby Cantrell; and son-in-law, Rickey Elkins.

Mr. Cantrell was married July 1, 1960 to Jane Ann Cantrell, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children and spouses, Debbie and Steve Sain of McMinnville, Beth Elkins of McMinnville and Danny and Lori Cantrell of Murfreesboro; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Baxter Hillis of McMinnville, Gladys Buck of Madison, and Joyce Crosslin of Dallas, Texas; sister-in-law, Bennie Cantrell of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 2, at High’s Chapel with Trent Key to officiate. Interment will follow at Centertown Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and 11 a.m. Monday until the time of service at High’s. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
