McMinnville resident and Warren County native Gordon Earl Campbell, 88, was born March 10, 1924 and died March 12 at his residence following an extended illness.A retired nurseryman and member of the Church of Christ where he taught classes for many years, he was the son of the late William V. and Ora Northcutt Campbell. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Vanice Morris; and three brothers, Vernon, Winford and Marvin Campbell.He was married to his wife of 60 years, Mary Frances Campbell of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Gordon Neal Campbell and wife Roxann of Smithville, and William Steve Campbell of McMinnville; six grandchildren, Leah (Anthony) Smartt, Conethia (Jim Bob) Turner, Nevada Campbell, Ariel Campbell, Chris Campbell and Braxton Campbell; five great-grandchildren, Kaylee Campbell, Aizley Turner, Colton Turner, Logan Furey and Kade Campbell; brother and sister-in-law, William Elhew and Shelby Jean Campbell of Lake City; two sisters-in-law, Louise and Pauline Campbell, both of McMinnville, and several nieces and nephews.Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in High’s Chapel with Ray Winton and R.S. Rigney officiating.
