McMinnville resident and Van Buren County native Glenn Edward “Hammer” Martin, 74, was born May 13, 1945 and died Sept. 6 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville following an extended illness.

A retired maintenance worker with the Warren County School System and a nurseryman, he was the son of the late Tommy and Annie Warren Martin. He was married in January 1980 to Dixie Carol Womack Martin, who preceded him in death. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Billy Martin, James Martin, R.L. McGuire and A.D. McGuire; and sister, Pauline McGuire Lee.

He is survived by six sons and daughters-in-law, Travis and Glenda Martin, Richey and Amber Woodlee, Damon and Renea Woodlee, Shane and Angie Martin, Dennis Scheidler, and Jimmy and Holly Scheidler, all of McMinnville, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at High’s Chapel with John McKelvey officiating. Burial followed at Womack Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
