Gertye Barnes Wilson of McMinnville died Thursday, August 25.

Gertye Barnes Wilson, 96, of McMinnville died Thursday, Aug. 25, at St. Thomas River Park Hospital.
She was born Aug. 9, 1920 in Morrison and was a former employee with Kingsboro as a supervisor in the cutting department, worked at Farm Bureau for over 25 years preparing income taxes, and was a devoted member of Caney Branch the Baptist Church. Gertye was a devoted mother and grandmother to her family. She enjoyed gardening, was a wonderful cook, loved shopping, and enjoyed taking short trips to Gatlinburg and Dollywood. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by parents George W. and Nora Cunningham Barnes, husband Raymond Paris Wilson, special cousin Louise Cunningham, and extended family member Henry McElroy.
Survivors include her daughter, Jana (Amon) Wilson Ringemann of McMinnville; granddaughter, Jera Alexa Ringemann; very special extended family and devoted friend Jim Brock, sister-in-law Pauline Wilson of Murfreesboro, extended family members, Anna Ringemann of Nashville, Geneva McElroy of Kingston Springs, Pam and Jeff Lynn and their family of Kingston Springs; special friends, Tyler Hillis, Leisha Burks, Peggy and Michael Woods, Johnny and Mary Newby, Ewin and Betty Rigney, Sain Smith, Pinkey and Tommy Dodd, and Todd Hutchins, and special neighbors David and Tracey Denton. Nieces, nephews and other friends also survive.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Leonard Herman, Chris Anderson, and Johnny Newby will officiate. Interment will follow at Caney Branch Cemetery. The Wilson family will receive friends from 4 until 9 p.m. Friday, and again from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
