George W. Morgan, 85, of Madisonville, Ky., died Monday, March 2, at NHC nursing Home in Madisonville.
He was born Nov. 12, 1929 in McMinnville to the late Leona Gribble Morgan and Hollie Morgan. He was a retired lumber inspector for Koppers. He was an avid fisherman, loved to travel, and enjoyed wood work making beautiful furniture. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Tennessee National Guard and a member of Church of Christ in Madisonville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Marvin and Ernest; and sisters, Ruby, Hazel, Novella, and Magdline.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Martha Templeton Morgan of Madisonville; daughters, Janice (Kenny) Montgomery of Madisonville, and Vickie (Mike) Frank of Evansville, Ind.; grandchildren Jacob (Melissa) Taylor of Madisonville, Wil Frank of Evansville, Ind., and Morgan (Kevin) Frank of Evansville, Ind.; great-grandchildren Zoe Taylor of Monkeys Eyebrow, Ky., Lylah and Pierce Colbert of Evansville, Ind., and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services are postponed due to inclement weather, to be held Saturday, March 14, at 1 p.m. in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Walling with Gene Coulter officiating. Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Hopkins County Humane Society, the American Cancer Society, or Rock Island Church of Christ in Rock Island. Condolences may be made to the family at www.harrisfuneralinc.com.
