George Stanley “Stan” Hankal Jr. passed away at his home following a four-month illness with cancer on June 17. He was a native of McMinnville, and was currently a resident of Cookeville. Stan was married on Nov. 8, 2002 to Mary Ellen Barnhill Hankal, who survives.

Mr. Hankal was born Feb. 14, 1958, to the late Nettie Opal Scott Hankal and George Stanley “Bud” Hankal. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son Scott Lakeland Hankal in 2013, and stepdaughter Ginny Lee Prince in 1995.

Survivors include his wife Ellen, daughter Myrandia Hankal, son Clay Hankal, stepdaughter Marcy Hillis, three grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Netta Collins, Treva (Phillip) Carter, Jenny (Joe) Montgomery, and Cathy (Rick) Barrett, brothers David (Penny) Hankal and Paul (Tammie) Hankal, sister-in-law Janie (Taylor) Jones, and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Mr. Hankal was the owner of Stan’s Service Electric & Plumbing. He was a loving husband and father, a devoted family man, and always helped others in need. An avid lover of animals, Stan especially loved dogs and horses.

A special thanks to Caris Hospice who cared for him above and beyond what was expected. Kim Savage and Pam Disbn Felty – thank you! His wish was to be cremated. There will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Viola Valley Dog Rescue in his memory.
