Rock Island resident and Algood, Tenn. native George Leroy Wilmoth, 81, was born Feb. 22, 1943 and died March 13, 2024 in St. Thomas West Hospital following an extended illness.

A retired employee with Calsonic, he was the son of the late Loyd Hansel Wilmoth and Odel and Lillie Bell Jackson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Joy Carol Hillis Bouldin Wilmoth; brother-in-law, Kenneth Fox and sister-in-law, Patricia Jackson.

Mr. Wilmoth is survived by son, Gary Wilmoth; daughters, Regina (Mike) Wiggins and Renee (John) Morgan; grandchildren, Ben Wiggins, Adam Simmons, Jeffery Simmons, Brett Simmons, J.T. (Tiffany) Morgan and Laura (John) Herman; great-grandchildren, Braden and Raylan Herman; sisters, Lorene (Dennis) Smith and Maxine Fox and brothers, Donnie (Onda) Jackson and Johnny Jackson. Cousins, family and friends also survive.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17 in High’s Chapel with Richard Bowman to officiate. Interment will follow at Crain Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County. Visitation will be Saturday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon until the time of service at High’s.

High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
