George Daniel Simpson Sr., 90, of Morrison died Sunday, Feb. 17, at River Park Hospital.
He was born June 26, 1922, in Nashville and was the retired owner of Morrison Milling Company, a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran of World War II, and a member of Morrison Church of Christ. Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by his parents Henry Reed Simpson Sr. and Bessie Justice Simpson.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Odell Hemby Simpson of Morrison; sons and daughters-in-law, George D. and Shirley Simpson Jr., of Jacksonville, Fla., William J. and Brenda Simpson of Little Rock, Ark., Larry A. and Carol Simpson of Eagleville, and Robert F. (Beaver) and Connie Simpson of Baker Mountain; and brother Henry Reed Simpson Jr., of Nashville; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral service is 1 p.m. Wednesday at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Roger Comstock and Bob Terrell will officiate. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Military grave rites will be administered by American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064. The Simpson family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at
