Mr. George C. McCarver, 72, of Rock Island died Saturday, Feb. 20, at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville.
He was born April 24, 1948, in Dunlap, worked as a welder, truck driver, and fabricator and was preceded in death by his parents Jesse Eugene and Georgia Villa Camp McCarver and brother Jesse Harold McCarver. George served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America, and was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his wife Deanna McCarver, stepson Michael Ridenour, sisters Ethelene Underhill, Carolyn Powers, and Kathy (Carl) Morgan, brother Marshall (Cathy) McCarver, and special nephew Carson (Teresa) Rust. Several nieces, nephews, family members, and friends also survive.
A graveside service and interment was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, at Mt. View Cemetery. Military grave rites were administered by the Bobby Ray Detachment of Marine Corps League 1377. Bro. Carson Rust officiated.
