Fred L. Hoover Jr., 80, a McMinnville resident and Viola native was born Sept. 18, 1932 and died Feb. 25 at NHC Healthcare in McMinnville.He was a retired insurance agent with Hoover & Son Insurance, a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. He loved his family, the river, the Smokies, the Dearing Place, and all the great outdoors.He was the son of the late Fred L. and Ruby Ramsey Hoover Sr. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law Fred and Leslie Hoover III of McMinnville; daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Bobby Kirby of McMinnville; grandchildren, Sarah, Cade and Luke Hoover, Lake and Rayah and Isabel Kirby; two sisters, Mary Harold Hoover and Betty Hoover Smith.A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Viola Cemetery with Father Bude VanDyke officiating.
